The Seumas B Story

continued from about us page

Once Seumas had his music stores up and running he spent many moons checking out his vast array of musical instruments.
According to legend after years of practice he has learned to play some of them. To this day it is not know how many.

Running two music shops and an online shop is busy work. Seumas does take a break once in awhile. Seumas is really good at chilling out! Enjoy your visit here at SeumasB's.

Caithness – the North.... Caithness Flow Countryempty landscape, empty houses.... or are they? The ghosts of people long gone infuse the landscape with a warmth and energy that can’t be rubbed out, or forgotten. Land once toiled over, homes now in ruins, and communities dispersed to the mercy of high seas and unknown lands. That is the historic nature of the North; a powerful legacy of human displacement and misfortune, that fuels the ‘new generations’ of the North to celebrate in song and creativity – a people and a time ‘gone but not forgotten’.

Sally Edwards and Katrina Scott - two of the North of Scotland’s finest and The Bandmost original folk performers, with blues-influenced guitarist Charlie McIntosh are ‘emptyhouse’. With familiar tunes that reflect the North’s past ‘human’ turbulent history, they deliver music with passion and a fresh voice to stir the imagination and pull at the heart. A people and time that are ‘gone but not forgotten’.

This collection of songs pulls The Albumtogether a long standing musical collaboration between Sally and Katrina. Ten years of gigs, Mods, ceilidhs, compilations, videos and informal pub sessions come alive with the accompaniment of Charlie and a few friends. Singer songwriters such as Joan Baez, Bonnie Raitt, Nanci Griffiths and Emmylou Harris have influenced Sally who, though born in Aberdeenshire, grew up in Caithness. Katrina is native to the North, but spent her formative years on the West Coast of Scotland, where an early introduction to gaelic music and song has carried forward to today.

Charlie, born in Inverness, started playing guitar at sixteen. He has an eclectic musical taste – everything from ‘blues’ to the Grateful Dead. Charlie first heard ‘Kat’ and ‘Sal’ sing together at a local charity event. “Their voices were amazing”. He joked with them afterwards that if they ever needed a second guitarist –
“I’m your man!”
